Mayor Huang Weizhe announced the resumption of Vietjet Tainan-Ho Chi Minh City route on 12/12

Tainan City Mayor Huang Weizhe spared no effort to fight for international flights at Tainan Airport. After nearly half a year of hard negotiation by the city government team, the Tainan-Ho Chi Minh City route was successfully resumed on December 12.

Lin Guohua, director of the Tourism Bureau, said that there are currently three flights scheduled every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, departing from Tainan at 12:30 in the morning, arriving in Ho Chi Minh City at 14:45, departing from Ho Chi Minh City at 07:15 and arriving in Tainan at 11:30.

After Tainan Airport launched direct flights to Ho Chi Minh City in 2016, the passenger load factor increased steadily. Vietjet Air changed the original 180-seat A320 aircraft to the 220-seat A321 aircraft in March 2018. From June of the same year, the number of passengers per passenger increased steadily. There is one daily flight from Tainan to Ho Chi Minh City. During the epidemic, international flights were suspended one after another. On January 11, 2023, Vietjet Air resumed flying to and from Tainan and Ho Chi Minh City, with round-trip flights three days a week. After a brief resumption, it was suspended again. The city government team will discuss the details of resumption of flights and follow-up marketing activities with Vietjet.
