z Food is an indispensable and important element in the tourism industry, and it is also a city feature that attracts tourists to visit Tainan. To coincide with Tainan 400, the Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau specially organized the "202 4 Tainan Food City International Culinary Challenge" , inviting domestic and foreign culinary experts to come to Tainan, hoping to leave a brilliant record for Tainan 400 with a creative food competition.

Mayor Huang Weizhe said that this year (2024), Tainan has 31 stores selected for Michelin Bib Gourmand recommendation and 28 selected restaurants, ranging from famous snack shops and specialty Taiwanese restaurants that have been popular for decades to brand-new restaurants that combine different cuisines. The flavor has won the favor of Michelin reviewers. Tainan's long history and diverse culture have shaped today's unique cooking techniques and food characteristics. Not only has it earned the title of "City of Food," but it has also allowed the world to better understand and yearn for Tainan through its food.
Lin Guohua, director of the Tourism Bureau, said that this time the International Culinary Challenge will be held, inviting New Zealand celebrity chef Mark Southon and German celebrity chef Michael Wendel, as well as chefs Cai Ruicheng and Zhu Xinju of the Michelin-recommended restaurant Dongxiang Taiwanese Cuisine and Seafood in Tainan. Chef Zhou Rongtang, Chef Wu Jianhao of Jinxia Building, and experts in the fields of Chinese and Western hot cooking, artistic baking, and static cold exhibitions from Taiwan, New Zealand, Germany, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Vietnam will form a judging team. The themed Chinese and Western hot cooking, artistic baking, and static cold exhibition competitions invite international culinary experts to participate. They hope to use Tainan's high-quality agricultural, fishery and livestock specialty ingredients to integrate Tainan's food imagery with cultural creativity from various places, and communicate through "food" Each other’s cultures allow Tainan’s food culture to be spread at home and abroad.
