At present, the public sector is promoting environmental protection labels and environmentally friendly hotels, and Tainan's tourism and accommodation industry is very actively participating. In addition, the Green Travel Seal (Green Travel Seal) evaluated by the international organization - the Dutch Green Tourism Destinations Foundation is currently very rare in domestic hoteliers. Three hoteliers in Tainan have taken the lead in obtaining it. We hope that through this public recognition and on-site observation activities, all hotel and hotel operators in Tainan can learn from the benchmark and integrate with international sustainable tourism.
Director of the Tourism and Tourism Bureau, Lin Guohua, pointed out that the simultaneous advancement of quality and quantity is the focus of the Tourism and Tourism Bureau's industry guidance. When tourists come to Tainan, they spend the longest time in the tourism and accommodation industry, so more emphasis is placed on providing guidance on diversity and friendliness. Recently, the Tourism and Tourism Bureau has promoted bicycle-friendly hotels (436 hotels), senior-friendly hotels (55 hotels), barrier-free friendly hotels (69 hotels), pet-friendly hotels (21 hotels), and gender-friendly hotels (87 hotels). Currently, there are two main types of certification labels issued by the public sector. Among them, the environmental label is issued by the Ministry of Environment after reviewing the six major categories of environmental management, energy-saving measures, water-saving measures, green procurement, waste reduction and pollution prevention of enterprises in the tourism and accommodation industry. At the level of action, obtaining the label requires the active cooperation and investment of industry players. There are only about 122 companies in Taiwan that have obtained it, including 11 companies in Tainan. Environmentally friendly hotels are independently participated by the operators, and a total of 144 hotels in the Tainan City hotel industry have passed the certification. As for the GTS Green Travel Label, which has a higher threshold, there are about 15 hotels and lodging companies in Taiwan that have obtained it, of which 3 are in Tainan, highlighting Tainan's hotel and hotel industry's active pursuit of environmental sustainability.
