Tainan City was invited by the Osaka City Government for the fifth time in 2023 to exhibit at the Feast of Light in Osaka, Japan. In order to promote the 2024 Tainan 400 and the 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Tainan and other major events internationally, this exhibition will be held at Tainan Old City Gate Xiaoximen City (Jingbo Gate) designed the Tainan Lighting District and Tainan Tourist Information Center in conjunction with the theme of Tainan 400. I hope you can go to the Tainan Lighting District and the exhibition center to learn about Tainan’s tourism information. Director Lin Guohua of the Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau said that Japan is an important target market for the city’s international tourism. In order to further promote the 2024 Tainan 400 and the Taiwan Lantern Festival in Tainan and other major events in Japan, the design plan of this exhibition area is based on the 2024 Tainan 400 and the Taiwan Lantern Festival. focus. Different from the previous design of hanging a forest of lights above the exhibition area, this time the Tainan Light District is centered on a large light box with the mascot Ximen Jun inspired by the historical Tainan Jingbo Gate, with Tainan 400 commemorative decorative lights extending on both sides. The wall is like Mr. Ximen extending his arms to the Japanese people passing by to express "Tainan 400, welcome to Tainan!" A temporary Tainan tourist information center has been set up next to the Tainan Lighting District, introducing the latest real-time interactive technology, allowing the public to interact with Ximen Jun through the screen, giving participants an experience that transcends time and space, and makes them more impressed with Tainan. The office has also planned a Tainan tourism promotion area, prepared the latest Tainan tourism marketing brochure and 12 Chinese and Japanese bilingual brochures on site, and provided information on a series of events such as Tainan 400 and the 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival. We hope that through this exhibition, we will actually bring more Japanese tourists in 2024.

The Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau stated that in 2017, Tainan was invited to participate in the "Osaka. Feast of Light" Lantern Festival organized by the Osaka City Government and established the "Miaocheng of Light" Tainan Lighting District, which successfully created the impression of Tainan and gained reputation. In 2018 and 2019, we continued to use the Osaka Lantern Festival to increase the attention of Tainan’s tourism topic in Western Japan. In 2022, as the epidemic eased and border restrictions were lifted, Tainan City once again cooperated with the Osaka City Government to use lights to build friendship between the two places and promote Tainan tourism during the epidemic through exposure through the media and the general public. In 2023, the city was invited by the Osaka City Government for the fifth time. In order to promote the 2024 Tainan 400 and the 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Tainan and other major events internationally, the city planned to design the Tainan Lantern District display and hold Tainan tourism promotion meetings and other activities based on the theme of Tainan 400. We look forward to attracting Japanese people to travel to Tainan in 2024 through the splendid display of traditional Tainan hand-painted lanterns and interesting promotion activities to celebrate Tainan 400 together. In conjunction with the Feast of Light exhibition, the Tourism Bureau also plans to hold a Tainan tourism promotion meeting at the Osaka City Central Public Hall on December 17, inviting the Japanese public to get to know Tainan. The promotion will lead the public to try their own hands at the salt produced at the Tainan North Gate Salt Factory. Make your own 400 Tainan Yushou, explain the production process and bring in the travel stories or allusions of the materials. I hope everyone will learn to fall in love with Tainan while doing it.

Japan is an international tourist source country that the city focuses on promoting.
