Tainan Delegation’s Colorful Tianjin Trip Promotes Food and Medical Tourism | 2014/10/05 |
Source: Shu-Jyun Wang, Travel • Southern Taiwan At the invitation of Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Tainan City Government participated in the ‘2014 Tianjin Taiwan Trade Fair’, organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). The Tainan delegation was led by Deputy Mayor Chun-Tso Yen as the chief leader; Director of the Department of Health Sheng-Che Lin led representatives of Tainan’s medical tourism industry to promote ‘Tainan medical tour’, introducing advanced health examination and high-end dental services; Acting Director-General of the Agriculture Bureau, and the Industrial Development and Investment Promotion Committee Jian-Min Wang, Chairman of Tainan Cultural Tourism Industry Association (TCTIA) Yuan-Leng Su, TCTIA Honorary Chairman Bi-Jhu Chen, and business owners organized the ‘Tainan Gourmet Food Theme House’, actively promoting Tainan’s exceptional agricultural and fishery industries and the City’s local snack and souvenir, so that people in Tianjin can taste authentic Tainan gourmet food. Deputy Mayor Yen said, according to TAITRA’s data, the ‘2014 Tianjin Taiwan Trade Fair’ was held in Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center from July 3 to July 6. The 4-day exhibition attracted 465,000 visitors and reached NT$18.7 billion worth of business opportunities, showing that consumption power of the northern cities of China seemed unaffected by the slowdown of economic growth of the country. With 2,191 square kilometers of land and a population of 1.87 million, Tainan City is an ancient capital of culture and fine food, surrounded by beautiful waters and mountains. The ‘Tainan Gourmet Food Theme House’ in this exhibition introduced gourmet food including Song-Ling braised food, Gui's oyster omelets, Hong-You big milky buns, Taiwan turkeys, Black Bridge sausages, Pulao Chuang eatable, Traditional Tainan feast, Yu’s nougat candies, Love Beans House snacks, Guanmiao pineapple cakes, Dongshan coffee, Chimei food, etc. A total of 24 companies participated in 30 display booths; each one’s products not only represented the feature of the business but also reflected the special local agricultural culture and technology standards. During the exhibition, the Tainan fine food area was packed with people every day, attracting local major television and media to report; among them Song-Ling braised food, Gui's oyster omelets, Hong-You big milky buns, Black Bridge sausages and Love Beans House snacks attracted especially long queues. Consumers noted that Tainan’s snack foods are very suitable to the taste of Tianjin people; many buyers also hoped to be authorized as agents to sell them. The director of Taiwan Asset Enterprise Association of Tianjin Jia-Chen Harn (Dachan Great Wall Enterprise) was originally from Tainan; therefore, the Tianjin Taiwan Chamber of Commerce was particularly hospitable to Tainan City’s exhibitors, inviting them to participate again next year. The chamber of commerce will continue to increase purchasing good quality agricultural and fishery products of Tainan, as greeting gifts to reciprocate their countrymen in Tainan. |
