Source: Huei-Jhen Chen, reports from Tainan, Commercial Times, July 14, 2014 Tainan, the ancient capital of Taiwan, pushes urban marketing. 27 gourmet and souvenir businesses from the City were brought together to join the exhibition in Macau. Under the coordination and planning of Bi-Jhu Chen, Honorary Chairman of Tainan Cultural Tourism Industry Association (TCTIA), ‘Tainan temple gate gourmet culture’ was incorporated for the first time to promote tourism, agricultural products, gourmet food and souvenirs in one go. Acting Director-General of the Industrial Development and Investment Promotion Committee (IDIPC) of Tainan City Jian-Min Wang said, the first Cross-Strait Fine Food Exhibition organized by the Macao Convention and Exhibition Centre in 2013 attracted an influx of about 38,000 visitors to the limited venue, and was crowned by the Macau authorities as one of the four major exhibitions in Macau. Fifteen gourmet food and souvenir businesses from Tainan formed a delegation to participate in the exhibition last year. With excellent product image and good reputation, they created a purchasing frenzy during the exhibition. Furthermore, the impact afterwards led participating businesses to explore the use of cross-border logistics to develop online shopping in Macau, in order to meet the shopping needs of local people and tourists. This year, Tainan City’s IDIPC actively participates in ‘The Second Cross-Strait Fine Food and Taiwan Agricultural Exhibition’. A total of 27 gourmet food and souvenir businesses will attend, with TCTIA Honorary Chairman Bi-Jhu Chen to coordinate and organize the ‘Tainan temple gate gourmet’ cultural event.
