Source: Rong-Siang Jhang, wire news by CNA from Tainan, Japanese illustrator siblings Yamasaki Tatsuya and Yamasaki Hanako granted authorization to the Tainan City Government today for the free use of their work Tainan Drawings. 1,500 copies of the book will be printed and sent to Japan for the promotion of tourism of the City. The Yamasaki siblings and Tainan City Mayor William Lai jointly held a press conference today to announce the authorization of free use of Tainan Drawings to the City Government. Tainan Drawings is the siblings’ early illustration work that introduces Tainan. Their latest creation is the tour book Fun in Tainan with richer content, which was published in July this year by Kadokawa Publishing House in Japan. Yamasaki Tatsuya noted that his Tainan visit was his first trip to Taiwan. He found that Tainan is different from Japan in its urban landscape, roads and ambiance. The most interesting part is the ‘people’, as people in Tainan are hospitable and will introduce visitors to their delicious snack food. Yamasaki Hanako said she came to Taiwan before and only knew about Taipei and Kaohsiung. Discovering Tainan City was an accident, and the City gave her a sense of nostalgia. She likes the ambiance in Tainan very much and stayed in Tainan for a year on a working holiday visa. The City Government announced that it will print 1,500 copies of Tainan Drawings and deliver them to the Taiwanese representative office in Osaka, Japan, and various tourist attractions, to promote Tainan tourism. In the future, the book will also be placed in TRA Tainan Station, THSR Tainan Station, and Tainan Airport for the public to collect on request. In addition, to coordinate with the launching of direct flight route between Tainan and Osaka at the end of October, the City Government is planning to purchase 200 copies of Fun in Tainan, and invite the Yamasaki siblings to promote Tainan in Japan together. |
