Tae Won-Jun Travels Tainan with Fun and Mom Source: Yu-Ru Luo, reports from Tainan, China Daily News Korean writer Tae Won-Jun, author of the book Travel with Mom which has broken the annual sale record of 100,000 copies, is traveling in Tainan on the 3rd and 4th with his mother, accompanied by staff from his publisher. To promote Tainan’s tourist routes to international backpackers, the City’s Tourism Bureau, in alliance with EZ Books of the Heliopolis Culture Group, invited renowned Korean travel writer Tae Won-Jun to enjoy the beauty of Tainan City with his mother, adding Tainan as one of the stopovers of their round-the-world tour. Planned by the Tourism Bureau, the Michelin three-star tourist routes, ‘Historical City Strolls’ and the ‘Old Five Channels Stroll’, cover historic sites and alleys such as the Confucius Temple, Chihkan Tower, the Old Five Channels, as well as gourmet snack trips. A guided tour of the ‘Old Five Channels Stroll’ will be launched in July with day and night routes. The Tae Won-Jun mother-son team is invited to experience it first. The City Government is providing them with the Daily Taiwan Pass 8899 to travel today and tomorrow, and accommodating them in JIA JIA Hotel near the West Market overnight, hoping that Tae Won-Jun recommends Tainan’s fun routes and gourmet trips in his blog to the Korean public. The Tourism Bureau referred to statistics of the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, showing that South Korean visitors to Taiwan topped 100,000 in January and February this year, a substantial growth of 96.66% from the same period last year. For the first time, South Korea surpassed the U.S.A. to become the country with the fourth most visitors to Taiwan. According to the International Division of the Tourism Bureau, South Korean tourists prefer the ‘hipster style, small travel’ routes. At present, South Korean tourists to Tainan mostly visit from December to February and engage in winter golf tourism. If the fund permits, the Tourism Bureau plans to organize promotions in South Korea and negotiate direct charter flights to Tainan in the future.
