Organized by Professor Kai Sung of National Central University in Taiwan, EMBA teams from Tainan’s National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and Hunan’s Central South University (CSU) visited KPC Products Inc. to see its scientific Chinese medicine.

Chairman of the NCKU EMBA alumni club gave an introduction to scientific Chinese medicine and the features and culture of Chinese medicine in Taiwan. A speech on aesthetic medicine in Taiwan by Dr. Cheng-Kun Wang, Head of the Tainan Medical Association, was also scheduled.

Dr. Wang traced the development of Taiwan’s aesthetic medicine industry for the last two decades: how it started from nothing and moved from ‘blue ocean’ to ‘red ocean’ strategies; how to help the aesthetic medicine industry upgrade; and how to improve technologies and knowledge of the practitioners. The path which Taiwan has gone through would be good reference and example for the industry in China.

He especially emphasized the prevention of aesthetic medical disputes, such as preventing ulcers caused by the injection of hyaluronic acid, and preventing Botox injection from causing wry mouth and oblique eyes.

As chairman of the Tainan Tourism Alliance, Dr. Wang also promoted the cultural landscape of Tainan City during his speech, encouraging entrepreneurs from Mainland China to visit Tainan. Tainan has just organized an international orchid exhibition and achieved a turnover of nearly ten billion Taiwanese dollars, deservedly named an international orchid capital.

NCKU is an internationally renowned university in Taiwan, ranking on the global top 400 list; the NCKU EMBA is a base for cultivating business leaders in central and southern Taiwan. Conversely, CSU is a key university in Hunan Province in China; it has over 800 doctoral supervisors, around 1,500 professors and senior staff, about 2,500 associate professors and other vice senior staff, and over 50,000 students.

After listening to Dr. Wang’s speech, these business owners from China commented that the trip was too short; after visiting Kenting the next day, they would return to Mainland China. They promised to revisit Tainan as ‘independent travelers’ to fully enjoy the aesthetic medical treatments of Tainan’s medical tourism, and appreciate the best of Tainan – its culture, scenery and medicine.
