Led by Deputy Director Jing Hong of the Personnel and Education Department of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Chinese delegation, with members from Capital Medical University of Beijing (CMU), School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, and Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, visited E-Champ dermatology clinic in Tainan City on April 1, observing the advanced aesthetic medicine business in Taiwan. Accredited with Aesthetic Medicine Quality Certification by the Taiwan Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation, E-Champ dermatology clinic has become a benchmark medical institution in Taiwan. Under the arrangement of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League in Mainland China, the Across the Strait Taiwanese Exchange Association dispatched the traditional Chinese medicine study delegation to visit E-Champ dermatology clinic, observing its advanced operational strategy and technology in aesthetic medicine. Head of the Tainan Medical Association Dr. Cheng-Kun Wang stressed that as aesthetic medicine became an important content of Taiwan’s international medical tourism, any medical dispute could lead to a transnational lawsuit; medical practitioners should therefore honestly inform the consumers beforehand of various ‘effects’, ‘side effects’, ‘avoidable medical injuries’, ‘inevitable medical injuries’ and ‘medical uncertainties’ of aesthetic medicine. Only after the consumers are fully informed and consent to receiving the treatment should an aesthetic medical procedure be performed. Dr. Wang personally explained the techniques of laser operation, Botox injection, hyaluronic acid injection, Ultra V Lift, and the prevention of post-operative side effects such as wry mouth and oblique eyes. After the briefing, professors and scholars of Mainland China’s medical community experienced the operation of non-ablative laser in E-Champ dermatology clinic. After the meeting, Dr. Wang, who is also Chairman of the Tainan Tourism Alliance, suggested to these Mainland scholars to take a tour of Tainan, enjoying the beauty of this tourist city’s ancient heritage and culture, gourmet snacks, ocean and wetlands, and mountains and forests.
