The 2014 Tainan Arts Festival will be launched on April 12 with an opening night of ‘West Side Story – Film with Live Orchestra’ in Nanying Green Heart Park, leading Taiwanese music fans back to the romantic Manhattan of the 1960s. Combining a live orchestra with a giant screen, the show will faithfully present the elegance of the classic. This year, 250 artists from seven countries join hands to perform in the Festival. The ‘Joe Hisaishi Special Concert with the Vienna State Opera Chorus’ will be held in Tainan Cultural Center on May 3.
On May 9, the world-renowned British group, the King's Singers, will fill the Eternal Golden Castle with their golden voices and charm, performing songs from the Beatles and the Taiwanese classic ‘Diudiu Copper’. The Festival will be closed by the works of one of the 20th century’s dance masters, Mark Morris, at the Tainan Cultural Center on June 19 and 20. Mr. Morris is also invited to be artist-in-residence for this year’s festival. |
