In response to the tourism policy that stresses low-carbon cities and the demands of tourists to visit Michelin-starred scenic spots, the Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau has recently launched two city-based walking tours: the Tainan City Historical Walking Tour and Anping Old Street Tour, both of which received positive feedback and gained high recognition from visitors. Since the tours were initiated in July 2011, more than 7,000 tourists have joined these city-based walking tours. In appreciation of the extensive support from the public, the Tourism Bureau will offer free tour guide services for 15 groups during the 2014 Chinese New Year (1/31 - 2/4). To make a reservation, please use the online reservation system starting from 8 a.m. this Friday (1/17).
The walking routes planned by the Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau cover historic sites, old houses and buildings, traditional handicrafts and old gourmet food shops, and connect stellar tourist destinations recommended by the Michelin Green Guide and other tourism resources in the surrounding area. During the Chinese New Year, the services for the Anping Old Street Tour will be available from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily, totaling 10 groups in five days. The meeting point is the main entrance to the Anping Tree House (No.108, Gubao St., Anping Dist., Tainan City). The services for the Tainan City Historical Walking Tour will be available from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily, totaling 5 groups in five days. The meeting point is the entrance to the National Museum of Taiwan Literature (No.1, Jhongjheng Rd., West Central District, Tainan City). A total of 15 groups joining either of the two walking tours will be offered free city guide services. Visitors are welcome to use the services.
People planning to visit Tainan during the Chinese New Year should first check out the tour itineraries on the Michelin 3-Star Tour webpage of the official Tainan tourism website (http://tour.tainan.gov.tw/) and make a reservation using the online reservation system (http://tour.tainan.gov.tw/Activity/chinese/ApplicationIndex.aspx?p=74). In addition to free city tour guide services offered by professional guides during the multi-day holiday, free guide services for the Anping Old Street Tour and Tainan City Historical Walking Tour will also be available every Saturday and Sunday. Each guided tour takes three hours, accepting a maximum of 20 visitors. The city government hereby earnestly invites you to join the Michelin 3-star tours in Tainan and experience the fun of strolling along old streets and the slow-paced life in Tainan together to celebrate a new year full of historical atmosphere.
