However do you know a bus is a good travel buddy? It is economical and convenient. Therefore, Tainan has launched "Let experts be your tour guide". Experiencing the great Tainan environment and atmosphere with six major bus routes is just like the prevailing bus tours that can be found overseas. Follow our camera and let's take a short trip with a bus. This is a red double decker bus shuttling back and forth on the streets of London, England. It is one of the most prominent city sights. Backpackers hop on the bus leisurely cruising around the city of London, passing by the London Eye (also known as the Millennium Wheel). Here is Hamburg, Germany. Bi-articulated buses roam around on the streets swiftly carrying foreign tourists, cruising by the Port of Hamburg. The prevailing overseas’ bus tours have long been backpackers' favorites. Now there is a city in Taiwan where bus tours are in vogue. Now we are in Madou, Tainan. The people that are getting on the bus aren't going to school or to work. They are taking the bus to experience the local environment and atmosphere. Right now we are looking at the Dianji Theater which has undergone many vicissitudes in Madou District. It has been perceived by the film director Hsiao-Hsien Hou as his ideal movie theater. Now let experts take you to spots that you usually do not pay attention to. Today we are following a tourism expert, Ken Worker, to explore unknown attractions hidden in alleys. Let's stroll along the streets, relishing vintage baroque style buildings on Madou’s old streets and then to the old market in the alley to taste fine food at hidden time-honored local shops. This is a bus rapid transit system which was first introduced by the Tainan government this past February. The government redesigned and mapped out six major bus routes and coordinated them with branch lines. The city is promoting a new trend of taking a bus to cruise Tainan. In order to let citizens get familiar with the routes, each route has arranged experts to be tour guides. You can follow the city writer Hao-Yi Wang to further explore every village and township and immerse yourselves in the cultural and historical context. There is also a nature observer, Ka-Shiang Liu, who will show you splendid farming landscapes. Also there are cultural workers who will recount temples and customs for you. For those who are interested in taking pictures follow the travel photographer Tsu-Hsi Tsui. He will take you to the best spots to take photos of scenery that are beyond your imagination. |
