Source: XinMedia/ Jie-Yun Siao/ Taipei Report-10/23/2013 13:17 Now that the cross-strait Taipei International Travel Fair has finished, to drum up the promotion of tourism in Taiwan for mainland Chinese tourists, the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications is leading a delegation and is continuing on to Kunming to attend the 2013 China International Travel Mart. The Bureau will vigorously promote quality itineraries in Taiwan and self-guided tour packages, in order to accelerate the development of a quality market. China International Travel Mart is the biggest professional travel fair in mainland China and the largest international professional travel mart in Asia. As the number of submissions of quality itinerary applications by the tourism industry has recently demonstrated a considerable growth, the Tourism Bureau will seize this advertising opportunity to vigorously promote quality itinerary group tours and Taiwan’s convenient self-guided travel environment. The Bureau will also emphasize that it advocates the principles behind China's new tourism law. The Tourism Bureau will join forces with travel agencies to pursue cross-strait cooperation to improve and promote the quality of group tours. The cross-strait industries can seize the juncture of China’s tourism law being implemented, and jointly design quality itineraries based on the five years of cross-strait tourism experiences and progressively improve bidirectional tourism exchanges. Additionally, the Tourism Bureau will use their Beijing and Shanghai branch offices to promote, enrich and constantly update the contents of the websites on the self-guided tour pages. It will categorize Taiwan’s regions into north, central, south, east and offshore islands and provide comprehensive self-guided touring related information for mainland Chinese tourists to travel to Taiwan. The Tourism Bureau stated that on this trip, they would communicate with mainland Chinese authorities that good faith and reasonable shopping trips on a tour can enhance the fun of travel. Presently the way quality itineraries and quality tourist services are promoted is by setting a quota for shopping arrangements. Hopefully it will minimize the impact of China's tourism law on the tourism related industries and effectively improve and restore the industry to the normal tourism market business pattern. China International Travel Mart takes place from October 24 to 27. The Tourism Bureau is led by David W. J. Hsieh, Director-General of the Tourism Bureau. The member organizations include the Taiwan Visitors Association, the Travel Agent Association of R.O.C, Taiwan, the Travel Quality Assurance Association, the Travel Association of Chinese, the Association of Tour Managers and other tourism industry delegation teams. A total of about 160 people are attending the event.
