The Legislative Yuan’s Transportation Committee called Lin Junxian to inspect the Tainan General District on the morning of the 21st, accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Transportation’s Department of Roads, Highway Administration, Tourism Bureau, and other agencies. Deputy Mayor Zhao Qinghui led the Tourism and Tourism Bureau and the city government team to make a briefing, and actively sought to add a rest area for generals.
Mayor Huang Weizhe stated that the Taiwan Route 61 is a tourist avenue with the theme of Happiness Highway. It passes through the three administrative areas of Beimen, Jiangjun and Chigu in Tainan. There are a total of 5 interchange exits. It also passes through the Yunjia South Coastal National Scenic Area and Taijiang National Park, along the way, has the scenery of coastal fishing villages and special fan-shaped salt pans. There are also famous scenic spots such as the Crystal Church, Nankunyangdai Tianfu, Mashagou Three-dimensional Painted Community, Jiangjun Fishing Port, and Qigu Salt Mountain. Unfortunately, there is no rest area along the line for passers-by. The rest area not only serves passers-by, but also serves as a venue for tourists to gather and serve as a venue for local specialties exhibitions, special markets and important events. In the future, operators introduced in the future can bring them to the place. Employment opportunities have contributed a lot to local development. It is suggested that the central government can accelerate research and discussion on adding rest areas.
Guo Zhenhui, Director of Tourism and Tourism, pointed out that the General Interchange is the most suitable place for Taiwan Route 61, which is located in the middle hub of Tainan, has a moderate traffic location, and can be quickly connected to coastal attractions. It will serve as a key point for future coastal tourism. The city government team chose to use the idle state-owned salt flats next to the general interchange, and future land acquisition is also relatively feasible. Therefore, it is particularly recommended to use these idle state-owned land, some of which involve the land managed by the Yunjia South Coastal National Scenic Area Management Office have also reached a consensus, agreeing to allocate to the development unit as a rest area, and can also become a tourist relay station in the coastal area. It is expected that the general’s rest area will become an important node of Taiwan Route 61, which will further promote the development of local tourism and the industrial development of the coastal tourism axis.
Legislator Lin Junxian said that the local government has been eagerly looking forward to adding rest areas for a long time. In the future, it will actively assist the local highway administration in seeking to add general rest areas to promote tourism development and promote local prosperity. Chen Yanbo, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Communications, also agreed with the local needs, and said that the municipal government will be asked to conduct feasibility studies and plans on future development scale, land acquisition, funding requirements, future business models, etc., and submit them to the Ministry of Communications for proper research and discussion to drive Tourism development along Taiwan 61.
Finally, Deputy Mayor Zhao Qinghui explained that the municipal government will conduct the feasibility study of the service area and then submit it to the State Administration of Highways and then to the Ministry of Transport. It is also hoped that the Ministry of Transport will provide more assistance to jointly promote this best rest area. It will become the best highlight in the future promotion of Happy Highway by the General Administration of Highways.
