A 6.4-magnitude extremely shallow earthquake occurred early this morning. Mayor Huang Weizhe, who cares most about Tainan's tourism and hotel industry, has tasked the city's Tourism Bureau to actively understand the needs of hotel and hotel operators and continue preparations for the Spring Festival.

In recent years, Tainan has become internationally renowned for its tourism. After being announced as one of the "World's Coolest Attractions in 2024" by the British "National Geographic Travel" magazine and one of the "World's Most Worth Visiting Cities in 2024" by the American cable television network CNN, this year it was again selected by the British The well-known publishing house "Time Out" magazine voted it one of the best travel cities in Asia in 2025. It is the only city in Taiwan on the list. Tainan is also a city that tourists visit again and again to explore the local history, culture and modern elegance.

In order to ensure the quality of tourism in the city and avoid problems that may cause consumer disputes, such as temporary cancellation of accommodation by tourists and price gouging by hoteliers, the Tainan City Tourism Bureau, together with the Consumer Protection Officer, will conduct publicity and inspections on hoteliers today. Key inspection items include: : Whether the actual price paid exceeds the price available for inspection, and whether the refund of the booking deposit complies with the provisions of the standardized contract. The preliminary inspection results found no violations. At the same time, the inspection team also publicized relevant consumer protection regulations to hoteliers, called on them to abide by the regulations, and reminded tourists to choose legal hotels and B&Bs to ensure their rights and interests.

Director of Tourism and Tourism Lin Guohua said that when applying for registration, hotels and B&Bs must declare room prices in accordance with regulations and keep them for future reference. During peak periods such as the Spring Festival, summer vacation or consecutive holidays, the actual room rate charged by hoteliers shall not exceed the available room rate. Visitors can check legal accommodation information through the " Taiwan Travel and Accommodation Network " of the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications or the " Tainan Tourism Network " of the Tainan City Government to ensure safe accommodation.

The Tourism and Tourism Bureau stated that if the actual room fee charged by a hotel operator exceeds the available room price, it will face a fine of 10,000 to 50,000 yuan in accordance with Article 55, Paragraph 3 of the "Tourism Development Regulations". Director Lin Guohua emphasized that operators must not take the law into consideration. Inflating house prices will not only result in fines, but may also damage the reputation of the hotel brand and further damage Tainan's tourism image. The gain outweighs the loss. We call on hoteliers to operate with integrity, and remind tourists that if they encounter consumer disputes, they can consult through the online complaint system of the Consumer Protection Division of the Executive Yuan or call the 1950 consumer service hotline.
