Tainan Hutoupi is the first reservoir in Taiwan. It was built in 1846. It is an excellent secret place where natural ecology and human history perfectly blend. The remains of the Xinhua Shrine in the park are listed as cultural historical buildings in Tainan City. This treasure, after restoration, shows the simple and elegant style of the Showa period.

Mayor Huang Weizhe said that the ruins of the Xinhua Shrine have been restored to their original antique style through the restoration work of the Tourism Bureau. It is a secret place in Xinhua Hutoupi that should not be missed. During the holidays, the park also provides free guided tours, with volunteers leading visitors to walk along the pilgrimage path and savor the stories and splendor of the historical buildings.

Shinka Shrine was built in the 18th year of the Showa era (1943). The former outer garden included a torii gate, a sacred bridge, and priest dormitories, while the inner garden included a worship hall, a main shrine, and an underground sanctuary for gods. Although most of the buildings no longer exist due to land changes after the war, precious relics such as the torii, Gojin Bridge, resting places and stairs are still preserved.

Lin Guohua, director of the Tourism Bureau, said that friends who are interested in Xinhua Shrine are recommended to visit during the holidays. Under the leadership of professional tour guides, start from the magnificent torii, which symbolizes the boundary between the human realm and the divine realm. . When passing by Goshen Bridge, you may want to pay attention to the elegant orb-like carvings on the bridge pillars. Continuing along the pilgrimage path, you can see stone lantern bases and worship hall staircases left over from the first generation of shrines everywhere along the road. In the red house resting place of the second-generation shrine, the cypress wood roof truss craftsmanship from the Japanese occupation period has been completely preserved, showing the unique architectural beauty. The park preserves one of the few remaining underground structures of shrines in Taiwan, which is extremely rare and is a highlight not to be missed when exploring the history of shrines.

Director Lin Guohua also specially recommended that after visiting Hutoupi Scenic Area and enjoying the historical and cultural walk, don’t forget to visit the gift shop in the park that sells local specialty products. The store collects a variety of Tainan’s high-quality agricultural products. It allows tourists to easily purchase Tainan’s most unique souvenirs.
